Dr Carol McCabe General Practitioner
Dr Carol McCabe aims to provide the best of old fashioned GP care using up-to-date modern medical approaches. She has a strong interest in mental health, having worked for a number of years in psychiatry in both Newcastle and Tamworth. She also has a passion for children’s health, and was awarded the ‘Carl Mason Memorial Prize’ in paediatrics from the University of Newcastle in 2006. She enjoys teaching and is currently a senior tutor for GP trainees preparing for their fellowship exams. She also keeps up-to-date by working in the Emergency Department. Carol is committed to the physical, mental and spiritual health and wellbeing of each patient and their families and is passionate about providing continuous and comprehensive care to her patients, in particular those with complex medical needs.
Dr Cristina Yelf General Practitioner
Dr Cristina Yelf MBChB (Hons) MMed (Skin Cancer Medicine) graduated in 1981 and has been a medical practitioner in Coffs Harbour for over 30 years. Since 2009 she has been focusing on skin cancer diagnosis and treatment and completed a Masters in Skin Cancer Medicine in 2012. Dr Yelf offers surgical and non-surgical treatments for sun-damaged skin and skin cancers. Dr Yelf is keen to involve the patient in discussions regarding the optimal treatment for each situation.
Dr Omotayo Lawal General Practitioner
Dr Omotayo (Tayo) Lawal MBBS is a General Practitioner who is dedicated to a patient centred approach to healthcare. She is good-natured and meticulous with almost a decade worth of practice experience. Dr Lawal is a member of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and is certified by the United States Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. Her special interests include women’s health, children and adolescent health, mental health, chronic disease management, preventative health, and general well-being. Dr Lawal is multilingual and speaks English, Hausa and Yoruba.
Dr Richard Scragg General Practitioner
Dr Richard Scragg BSc (University of St Andrews) MBChB (University of Manchester) Postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics (University of Otago) Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine (Monash University) has been practising medicine for over 32 years and is a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. He is widely experienced in rural and remote medicine and has worked in England, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Canada and Australia. Dr Scragg takes a holistic approach to medicine and endeavours to provide comprehensive continuing care for all the patients he attends. His special interests include rural and remote medicine, emergency medicine, wilderness medicine, and occupational medicine.
Dr Gonasagaran Ruthnam General Practitioner
Dr Gonasagaran (Jay) Ruthnam has been practising in Coffs Harbour for many years and has recently relocated his Palm Tree Medical Centre to our Park Beach location. Dr Ruthnam has a special interest in acupuncture.
